The other Venice

We left Joshua Tree in the afternoon and headed back towards Los Angeles.  Back in the city we stopped to meet a guy named Scott in West Hollywood.  He was actually a former student and friend of Seth's dad.  It was a treat to spend the evening with him--he even shared some of the Julian Pie we brought for him :o)
Us with Scott and his record.
That evening we checked into our Venice Beach Pod that we found on Airbnb.  It was basically like staying at a hostel but just a little different...
Our rental pod.  The main downside was the kitchen and bathroom noise due to the open design.  Otherwise a fun, economical and efficient idea!
We spent the morning out on Venice Beach, just a couple blocks down the road.  It was surprisingly laid back and there was something for everyone, especially for those beach hippie types.

Venice, famous for its canals (go figure)

Care for an exercise on the beach?
We made it as far as the Santa Monica Pier.  I recognize this merry-go-round from when I was little!
Santa Monica Pier
Stereotypical thing to see in California.
