We met my parents at LAX and flew out with them to Kansas City for Phuong's wedding. It was nice to see a few parts of Kansas. The areas we saw were a little different from what I was expecting; it was actually really similar to Raleigh. Well, the violent hail storm we experienced while driving from the airport to Overland Park was something different (it left dents in the rental car!).

We eventually made it to Leavenworth, KS, where we met Mom's family for the wedding. I don't think the little town knew what to make of us ;o)

| The next day Mom, Dad, Seth, and I went sightseeing. The nearby town of Atchison was really fascinating. It has multiple claims of fame, including: 1) this disabled bricklayer, 2) the home where Amelia Earheart grew up, 3) the birthplace of rhythm-and-blues musician Jesse Stone ("Shake, Rattle, and Roll"!), and 4) lots and lots of ghosts. |
