Joshua Tree

After leaving the ranch we drove east where the landscape morphed, virtually by the mile.
Spotted in a shockingly windy mountain pass outside of Palm Springs: a crazy, long windmill farm that stretched several miles.
We reached the town of Joshua Tree just as the sun was setting.  We were lucky to have it welcome us!
We stayed at an Airbnb off the beaten path.  In the morning I hopped outside while the sun was still low.
Our rental car outside the Airbnb.
Quite the view!  I wish we had more time here to enjoy it...

Cute, pudgy quails!  Wahoo!
We were actually able to jog to and inside Joshua Tree National Park
After the jog and breakfast we returned to the park for a closer look.

Petroglyphs
Barker Dam.  Too bad it was likely too late in the day to see much wildlife congregating by the water.

Keys View overlooking the Coachella Valley and the infamous San Andreas Fault.
Between the dramatic rock formations, the Seuss-like Joshua trees, and cute cactus friends, I could spend a lot of time here (at least until the 90 degree weather returned--we were spoiled by 70 degree temps!).
