Arrival: Oats and goats

As mentioned before, we are becoming really efficient and cautious at traveling and opted for the early train to Pisa for our flight to Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. After arriving at the airport a couple hours early, the flight was delayed an extra hour, which started us off on the wrong foot because we had a lot of driving to do upon arrival. We were further delayed because our rental car could not give us the car we had booked unless they blocked 1300euro from the credit card, which sent us chasing down internet, a phone card, a pay phone, Seth's father in NY, and finally his mother who works at a bank. Thank goodness it worked it out, but after wasting even more time figuring out how to get to a grocery store it was too late to stop at any sights on our way to our agriturismo on the Costa Verde.

Waiting at the airport. A little off-topic, but I think it is so funny how all the American college students wear the exact same stupid black North Face fleece jacket. Here is a group of four youths showing off their individuality.
The agriturismo (a farm that acts as a B&B--this one raises goats) was a good 4hrs away along a twisty, cliffy, poorly marked coastal road--we stopped frequently to ask for directions and did a good amount of backtracking. The first two hours were admittedly beautiful (we even spotted pink flamingos!) but after sunset the second half was torturous and slow, and we both even felt a little queasy from all the sharp turns. To make things worse, en route we noticed that the container of quick oats in our suitcase had busted open, covering all our clothing in a glorious white powder and leaving a trail of oats in our wake.

The coastline is dotted with Spanish watchtower, as seen on the hill on the left.
The Coasta Verde is known for its rugged, 'untamed' shore.
After a final dirt road to the agriturismo we pulled in around 10pm and weren't even hungry for a late dinner. But, we were glad we made it!
